AxPaint / AxAssist for Axapta 3.0, AX 4.0 and AX 2009

First of all, I would like to remind anyone interested of what AxPaint is. This is a small activeX component + a small xpo, that will allow you to change the background image of your application to whatever image you like.
You can find installation instructions, screenshot and a more detailed description through the link below:
http://kashperuk.blogspot.com/2007/06/axpaint-make-your-dax-look-cool.html

Well, the tool has recently been updated with support for all versions of AX starting with version 3.0.
The download link for the new (and, most probably, final) version of this tool is AxPaint.
Enjoy! :)

Also, it is hard not to mention another development tool from the same author, AxAssist. Sadly, it is not free, but it is still worthwhile to check it out - maybe that's something you company would be interested in buying. There is a Trial version you will be able to play around with for 30 days. The homepage for the tool is - www.axassist.com

  4. Hi Ivan, i have a following problem:
How i can learn to which tables record is written when i post for example sales document from salesTable forum. My problem is i want to delete more than 50 documents from salestable, but i don't know how to do it programmatically, cause i don't know in which tables data related to posted document exists.
If u will write a topic about this i think it will be great help for axapta begginners.
    Thanks in advance

  5. Ivan,

First off, great work! I enjoy reading your blog and you have taught me quite a few things about DAX. This little project is great.... if I could get it running... I have an error that says: "DllRegisterServer in AxPaint.ocx suceeded" when I go to run reg.bat.

Any ideas on how to solve this? Running DAX 4.0 SP2.

Sorry I know this is an old blog but I just ran across it and would love to have a background image in my Dev environment.

    Thanks again!

  6. Hi.
    "DllRegisterServer in AxPaint.ocs succeeded" - that's a good thing :)
It means the operation completed successfully.
You can now import the xpo from the zip archive into AX, run the form, press Alt+S and make the setup you want.
The detailed instructions are posted in the post linked above (the orignial topic about this tool).

Let me know if you encounter issues along the way.
    Thanks

  7. Ivan,

Sorry I posted the wrong error msg. When you say run the form you mean simply open it, correct? When I right click > open I get this error msg: Unable to create ActiveX control. AxPaint4.0 Is not found on the system, please check if the control is correctly installed.

Then, of course, nothing happens when you press Alt+S.

    Appreciate the reply.

    Regards.

  8. Is the file still present in the folder where you ran the *.bat file?
    Did the register operation succeed?
Can you please try on a different environment just to see that it works?
I don't have access to 4.0 right now, but I tried it on 5.0 yesterday, and everything seems to work fine

  9. Ivan,

The steps I am taking: I copied the AxPaint folder which contains all three files onto my desktop. Ran the reg.bat from my local desktop (do I need to run this on the AOS box?) and it succeeded. I then imported in the .xpo, opened up the form in the AOT, right click > open. Error message "Unable to create ActiveX control..."

I tried now in two environments.

    Appreciate the help.

  10. Hi.
Well, it is definitely worth trying to run the registration .bat on the AOS.
If that does not help, try to shoot an e-mail to adkotov @ g mail (dot) com, he might be able to debug the problem and help you.

    Thanks
